29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, or likely to be present, the employer shall: a) At the work site, where employees operate CNC plasma arc and oxy-fuel cutting machines, the employer had not assessed all of the workplace hazards and included them in the company's job hazard analysis. Job tasks not assessed include, but are not limited to, the use of welding goggles and welding screens by CNC cutting machine operators and employees working adjacent to CNC cutting machine operators.

29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Protection from arc welding rays. Where the work permits, the welder should be enclosed in an individual booth painted with a finish of low reflectivity such as zinc oxide (an important factor for absorbing ultraviolet radiations) and lamp black, or shall be enclosed with noncombustible screens similarly painted. Booths and screens shall permit circulation of air at floor level. Workers or other persons adjacent to the welding areas shall be protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields or shall be required to wear appropriate goggles. a) At the establishment, employees working adjacent to CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting machines were not protected by welding curtains or welding goggles exposing the employees to eye damage caused by ultraviolet radiation.
