(b)  Mixing line, end by pellet mill area:  On or about 8/2/13, combustible fugitive grain dust accumulations on the ledges, equipment, and other exposed surfaces were greater than 1/8 inch deep, and the employer had not developed and implemented a written housekeeping program in accordance with this subpart.

29 CFR 1910.272(j)(3): Compressed air was used to blow dust from ledges, walls, and other areas in grain handling facilities when machinery presenting an ignition source was not shut down, and/or when all other known potential ignition sources in the area were not removed or controlled:     (a)  Near loading control room, second level:   On or about 8/2/13, compressed air was used to blow grain dust from trucks, and all potential ignition sources in the area had not been removed or controlled in accordance with this subpart.     Potential sources of ignition include, but are not limited to:   1.  Gate junction box for bin 1, hanging by a plastic tie.   2.  Flexible wiring energizing exterior-wall fan used as a substitute for permanent wiring.   3.  Loading control panel with missing emergency-control button.   4.  Non-explosion-proof portable fan in loading control room.
