29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1) Each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six or more feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) Southeast Corner of Building, Price Chopper Store #236, 4551 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, PA: Employees spray painting the front exterior of a building from a roof were exposed to a fall hazard of twelve-foot (12'). The employer did not ensure that fall protection systems were utilized to protect employees from falling, as observed on or about April 16, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19, abatement certification is not required for this violation as abatement was observed during the inspection.
