OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and crushed-by hazards created by metal storage rack systems with damaged bottom columns and cross braces.  a) Old Warehouse, #4, Stauffer Industrial Park, Taylor, PA: Employees placed or removed materials and products with powered insdustrial trucks onto metal storage rack systems that had bottom columns and cross braces that were bent and damaged.  Employees were exposed to struck-by and crushed-by hazards in the event of a metal storage rack system collapse, as observed on or about May 16, 2013.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.

29 CFR 1910.23(b)(1):  Every wall opening from which there is a drop of more than 4 feet was not guarded in accordance with the requirements noted in 29 CFR 1910.23(b)(1)(i) and/or 29 CFR 1910.23(b)(1)(ii).  a) Northwest Wall, Old Warehouse, #4 Stauffer Industrial Park, Taylor, PA: Employees entered and exited the Compressor Room directly adjacent to a wall opening that was not guarded by fall protection devices. Employees were exposed to a twelve-foot (12') fall hazard from the Compressor Room to the Warehouse floor, on or about May 16, 2013.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is not required for this violation. Abatement was observed during the inspection.
