29 CFR 1910.303(g)(2)(i): Except as elsewhere required or permitted by this standard, live parts of electric equipment operating at 50 volts or more shall be guarded against accidental contact by use of approved cabinets or other forms of approved enclosures.  a. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the meat prep electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.   b. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the ice cream electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  c. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the walk in freezer electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  d. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the 24 foot M/D dairy electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  e. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the 24 foot fresh meat electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  f. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the 24 foot end cap electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  g. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the 24 foot frozen meat electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  h. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the frozen rear end cap electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  I. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the 36 foot produce electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  j. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the smoked meat electrical door was open, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  k. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the electrical cover for the  thermostat control, on the north wall behind the door, was off, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  l. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the electrical cover for the thermostat control, on the north wall above the defrost controls, was off, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.

In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, wiring was exposed to the sharp edge of the metal clad cable at the 36 foot produce compressor panel, thereby exposing the employee to a contact hazard.

On the north wall of the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, circuit panel RA had an unused opening of 2.5 x 3 inches, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.   b. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the panel for the 24 foot dairy case had an unused opening of 2.5 x 2.5 inches, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  c. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the junction box for the fresh meat case had an unused opening of 1inch, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  d. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the panel for the 36 foot produce case had two unused opening of 1inch, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  e. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the panel for the 24 foot frozen meat case had an unused opening of 1 inch, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.  f. In the compressor room where employees check refrigeration equipment, the switch panel for the 24 foot frozen meat case had an unused opening of 1.5 inches, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.

29 CFR 1910.332(b)(2): Additional requirements for unqualified persons. Employees who are covered by paragraph (a) of this section but who are not qualified persons shall also be trained in and familiar with any electrically related safety practices not specifically addressed by 1910.331 through 1910.335 but which are necessary for their safety.  a. In the compressor room where an employee was required to open live electrical boxes and check live circuit breakers and timers, the employee as not trained in electrical safety-related work practices, thereby exposing the employee to a contact hazard.

Note: Personal protective equipment requirements are contained in subpart I of this part.  a. In the compressor room of the store where employees were required to troubleshoot live electrical equipment, personal protective equipment was not provided or used, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.
