29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge 6 feet or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of a guardrail system, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. On or about May 16, 2013, employees installing Tyvek weather protection on a commercial building next to an open trench were not protected from a fall hazards of more than 7 feet to the ground below in the following instances: a) At the rear of the building, employees were not wearing fall protection or protected by a guard rail system when walking and working at the edge of the concrete sidewalk.
