29 CFR 1910.178(g)(2): Facilities shall be provided for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte, for fire protection, for protecting charging apparatus from damage by trucks, and for adequate ventilation for dispersal of fumes from gassing batteries. In the Fabrication 581 Section of the Production Area, a Hobart/Accu Battery Charger for a Stand up and other forklifts in the area was located next to the main aisleway and subject to damage by forklift and other vehicle traffic.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): General requirements for machine guards. Guards shall be affixed to the machine where possible and secured elsewhere if for any reason attachment to the machine is not possible. The guard shall be such that it does not offer an accident hazard in itself. In the Fabrication Department onn the Komatsu P16501 150 Ton Hydraulic Power Press, an adjustable solid metal guard on the end where the sheet metal is fed through to the die was secured by two levers and without the use of a tool to remove and adjust.
