Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. In that employees were exposed to fall hazards when working on or near 1829 Prospect #1, Lincoln, NE 68502. Employee(s) were exposed to fall hazards while standing in the elevated bucket of a skid steer. The employee was elevated in the bucket of the skid steer to power wash the side of the house. The company representative was the operator of the skid steer. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to: 1. Provide and utilize acceptable fall protection to perform elevated work such as, but not limited to, ladders, scaffold platforms, etc. 2. Institute policies and procedures to prohibit the elevating of employees in the buckets of vehicles. DISCLAIMERS: 1) You are not limited to the abatement methods suggested above. 2. The methods explained are general and may not be effective in all cases. 3. The employer is responsible for selecting and carrying out an appropriate method.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. Job site located at 1829 Prospect #1, Lincoln, NE 68502-Two people working for Mr. Simmons power washed the out-side of a building from the roof of the building without being protected from falling by the use of a guard rail system, safety net system, or a personal fall arrest system. The upper landing surface of the roof was over 6 feet above the ground level.
