OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):       Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee(s) in that employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of being caught-in:      On 5/28/2013, employees at Autotire, located at 3840 Adie Road, St. Ann, MO, 63074, were working with automotive lifts in eight different bays.  Employees were exposed to hazards such as amputation, laceration, caught in between, and/or being crushed when working with the following automotive lifts where deficiencies were noted:    a/ Bay 1 Single post in-ground; could not read placard or name plate.  b/ Bay 3 two post in-ground; no name plate indicating the manufacturer name and address, model#, serial #, and lift rated load capacity.  c/ Bay 8  Rotary two post above ground, serial # SPOA9-200,  was missing a ring on the swivel lock release pin and had a bent ring on another swivel release pin.     One method of abatement is to have a qualified inspector perform inspections required by ANSI/ALI ALIOM: 2008, paragraphs 5.6.1 through 5.6.6.5. The lifts in bays 1, 3 & 8 may be abated by having a qualified inspector perform inspections as required by ANSI/ALI ALIOM: 2008, paragraphs 5.6.2.6 and 5.6.2.13. 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii):     Flexible cords and cables were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided that will prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws.    On 5/28/2013, Autotire located at 3840 Adie Road, St. Ann, MO, 63074, had an automotive lift in bay 6.  It was a Mohawk two post above ground lift, serial # A5H204, without proper strain relief going to the electrical motor which could cause an electrical shock, electrocution, or fire.
