OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not protected from the hazard being struck by and caught in the moving automotive lift; a) Upper level, West Wall: Employees operated one (1) Mohawk two post, Transmission lifts. The right side post had the lock release cable broken; on or about 5/29/2013. b) Lower level, West wall: Employees operated four (4) Mohawk, two post, transmission lifts. Lock release cables were missing from the lifts; on or about 5/29/2013. A feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others to correct this hazard, is to follow the American National Standard/Automotive Lift Institute standard for Automotive lifts ANSI-ALI/ALOIM 2008: Section 4.5 "If any conditions listed in 4.4.4 (4) through (10) are observed, the lift shall not be used until the cause of the problem has been determined and the appropriate repairs have been made by qualified automotive lift service person personel".
