29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performs any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment would be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. a) Production Department - On 5/29/13, ABM Janitorial Services did not develop and implement an adequate energy control program to ensure employees who perform service or maintenance on machines or equipment were protected from the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy. An employee engaged in servicing activities on the icing station of line #1 was exposed to a hazardous mechanical energy source and suffered a finger amputation as a result.
