OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees performing oil and gas well drilling operations were exposed to excessive heat: On Rig #11 located at Robb 1532 in Howard County, Texas employees performing oil and gas well drilling activities and rig move activities were exposed to excessive heat conditions. The employer failed to ensure that employees working outdoors were acclimatized and the work/rest cycles were sufficient to prevent heat related illnesses in the following instances: a) On May 29, 2013 the high temperature reached 97 F during the rig move to the site according to the National Weather Service. b) On June 5, 2013 the high temperature reached 101 F during drilling operations according to the National Weather Service.
