29 CFR 1926.407(b)(2)(i): Equipment shall be approved not only for the class of location but also for the ignitible or combustible properties of the specific gas, vapor, dust, or fiber that will be present. (a). In the manhole located in the west bound traffic lane of 7575 Harvey Avenue, where the manhole box identified as compromised by contract where the 16 inch Force Main Sewer Line was ran, the employee did not use tools suitable for the ignitible atmosphere where Methane gasses were present or assumed to be present during the removal of a previously installed repair band using a 120 volt electric Dewalt Impact gun which caused ignition of the trapped gasses on or about June 10, 2013.
