The hazard assessment would evaluate the need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including appropriate gloves, eye protection, etc. while handling these materials. Abatement Certification and Documentation is required.

29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified: a) On or before 6/21/2013, the employer supplied Microflex Ultraderm examining gloves for salon employees cleaning wigs with naphtha and using other chemicals. These gloves are not rated as chemically resistant and do not maintain structural integrity under conditions of use. Abatement Certification and Documentation is required.
