29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.   Location: 308 8th Ave., New York, NY.   a) Employer failed to ensure that employees were protected from falling while working at the construction site.  The employees were exposed to a fall of up to approximately 8 feet to the ground below while walking and/or working near an unprotected edge at the site; on or about 6/21/13.

The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.   Location: 308 8th Ave., New York, NY.   a) Employer failed to ensure that employees were protected from falling while working at the construction site.  The employees were exposed to a fall of up to approximately 8 feet to the ground below while walking and/or working near an unprotected edge at the site.  Fall protection training is required; on or about 6/21/13.
