OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:   a) Auto lifts were not periodically inspected by qualified inspectors at least annually to ensure that they were properly maintained and functioning.   b) At least five lifts did not have functional safety locking mechanisms. Critical locking pieces were either missing , broken or stuck in place. Without such locks, there is nothing preventing the lifts from dropping if hydraulic pressure was accidentally or suddenly lost.       Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords and cables were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided that will prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws:  a) On or about June 24th, 2013, and at times prior, employees were exposed to electrical hazards. The outer insulation on the electrical cable powering the motor on lift #6 was damaged due to strain on the cord.
