In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc:      (a)  The point of operation guards on the following CNC machines were not interlocked:           1.  Samsung CNC Lathe #5  Interlock was inoperable due to missing hardware.           2.  Okuma CNC Lathe #15  Interlock was inoperable due to being tied back.           3.  Okuma CNC Lathe #16  Interlock was inoperable due to missing hardware.    (b)  The blade on the Grizzley Vertical Band Saw was inadequately guarded, in that there was 1-1/2 inches of exposed blade running through the guide rolls.        In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
