29 CFR 1926.451(b)(5)(ii): Each platform greater than 10 feet in length shall not extend over its support more than 18 inches (46 cm), unless it is designed and installed so that the cantilevered portion of the platform is able to support employees without tipping, or has guardrails which block employee access to the cantilevered end.   a) Granite Mill Rd. Lot 19, Marietta GA. North side of building: An employee was exposed to falls of 12 feet while working from a pump jack scaffold that had platforms extending over its support 12 feet on the Northwest side and 5 feet on the Northeast side.

29 CFR 1926.452(j)(2): Poles shall be secured to the structure by rigid triangular bracing or equivalent at the bottom, top, and other points as necessary. When the pump jack has to pass bracing already installed, an additional brace shall be installed approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) above the brace to be passed, and shall be left in place until the pump jack has been moved and the original brace reinstalled.   a) Granite Mill Rd. Lot 19, Marietta GA. North side of building: An employee was exposed to collapse hazards while working 12 feet above ground level from pump jack scaffolding that was not secured on the bottom.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): "Residential construction." Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. Exception: When the employer can demonstrate that it is infeasible or creates a greater hazard to use these systems, the employer shall develop and implement a fall protection plan which meets the requirements of paragraph (k) of 1926.502.  Note: There is a presumption that it is feasible and will not create a greater hazard to implement at least one of the above-listed fall protection systems. Accordingly, the employer has the burden of establishing that it is appropriate to implement a fall protection plan which complies with 1926.502(k) for a particular workplace situation, in lieu of implementing any of those systems.   a) Granite Mill Rd.
