29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): A body belt with lanyard attached to the boom or basket was not worn by employee(s) working from an aerial lift: (a) TK Construction US, LLC at I-70 eastbound, exit 205, Silverthorne, CO 80497: On June 25, 2013 two employees worked from inside the bucket of an aerial lift without utilizing fall protection systems while connecting supports for an overhead traffic sign. This condition exposed the employees to a fall hazard of approximately 17 feet. Abatement Note: A personal fall arrest system is recommended with lanyard attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. As of January 1, 1998, Subpart M of the 29 CFR 1926 part 1926.502(d) provides that body belts are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system. The use of a body belt in a tethering system or in a restraint system is acceptable and is regulated under 1926.502(e).
