OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:  a. Building 6453 - employees were exposed to a crushing hazard in the event of forklift tip over or from the operator falling out of the forklift, in that, the use of seat belts was not enforced. In addition, seat belts were not re-installed on forklifts after removal during events such as, but not limited to, re-upholstery of seats. Violation observed on or about 7/16/13.     Feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazardous condition would be to enforce use of seat belt use and to install a seat belt in accordance to the following requirements for powered industrial trucks ASME B56.1-1993 - Safety Standard for Low and High Lift Trucks; or to follow the safety instruction set forth in accordance with the manufacturer operator's instruction manual.

29 CFR 1910.252(b)(3): Employees exposed to the hazards created by welding, cutting, or brazing operations were not protected by personal protective equipment in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.132:  a. Building 6401 - stainless steel and aluminum welding department - an employee was exposed to skin burns and ultraviolet rays, in that, the use of personal protective clothing and equipment was not enforced. The employee's legs were unprotected during stainless steel welding while wearing shorts and working in a sitting position. In addition, the employee was not wearing a welding apron, welding jacket or welding sleeves. Violation observed on or about 7//16/13.
