Employees were exposed to electric shock hazard. 29 CFR 1926.651(i)(3): The employer did not ensure that sidewalks, pavements, or appurtenant structures shall not be undermined unless a support system or another method of protection is provided to protect employees from the possible collapse of such structures: a) The employer dug into the side wall of the excavation causing an undermine of the sidewalk. Employees were exposed to collapsing dirt and concrete. The employer was attempting to excavate further to the right without removing the overhead pavement/ sidewalk. Location: 46 Olive Street, Brooklyn, New York On or about 7/3/2013 NOTE: BECAUSE THIS ITEM WAS CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION THE EMPLOYER NEEED NOT SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION NOR DCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
