29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation: (a) Taylor Farms New Jersey Inc., located at 406 Heron Drive, Swedesboro NJ, Production, Hot Cuisine: The employer did not ensure that employees used the required eye protection while working with corrosive products. An employee was observed wearing his chemical splash goggles on his forehead while performing sanitation activities on the equipment, observed on or about 7/18/13. (b) Taylor Farms New Jersey Inc. located at 406 Heron Drive, Swedesboro NJ, Production, Commissary: The employer did not ensure that employees used the required eye protection while working with corrosive products. 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g.,corrosive, flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. (a) Taylor Farms New Jersey Inc., located at 406 Heron Drive, Swedesboro NJ: Training had not been provided to employees upon initial hiring on the hazards related to the products in use at the facility including but not limited to Madisan 75 (corrosive), occurred on or about 7/17/13. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19
