Collins St., Eaton, CO 80615: On or before July 8, 2013, the employer did not ensure that a rotating shaft end on the south side of the Brewer Resaw was guarded. The rotating shaft end protruded more than one-half the diameter of the shaft and was not guarded by a nonrotating cap or safety sleeve. This condition exposed employees to the hazard of rotating parts.

29 CFR 1910.265(c)(18)(i): Construction, operation, and maintenance of conveyors shall be in accordance with the American National Standard B20.1 - 1957, which is incorporated by reference as specified in 1910.6: (a) Sawmill of the Rockies at 910 E. Collins St., Eaton, CO 80615: On or before July 8, 2013, the employer did not ensure that conveyors were provided with guards to protect operators and other employees from hazards created by rotating parts and ingoing nip points. This condition exposed the employees to hazards from unprotected rotating parts and ingoing nip points. This condition includes but is not limited to: 1) Ingoing nip points from the belt and pulley on the terminals of the Slat Table belt conveyor; 2) Ingoing nip points from the chain conveyor terminals of the Slat Table assembly; 3) Ingoing nip points from the chain conveyor terminals of the Transfer Chain assembly; 4) Ingoing nip points from the chain conveyor terminals of the Drop Head Trimmer operator position; and, 5) Ingoing nip points from the chain conveyor terminals of the Pull Chain assembly; 6) Rotating sprockets and shafts at the output of the Drop Head Trimmers conveyance assembly; 7) Ingoing nip points from the belt and pulley on the terminal of the Resaw belt conveyor, and 8) Ingoing nip points from the chain conveyor terminals of the Unscrambler Infeed assembly.
