29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation: (a) Line 2: During the filling operation for Roebic Drain Opener, the employer failed to ensure that the employee working at the turntable, checking the bottles for cap tightness, was wearing adequate eye protection for the possiblity of accidental splashes of sodium hydroxide solution. Employee(s) at this position are exposed to open bottles of sodium hydroxide solution because of unsecured caps. The employee did not wear face shields over their safety glasses or tight fitting chemical goggles which would adequately protect the eyes.
