OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: Location: Sarah Lawrence College, Andrews East Garage a) The slide guard anchors were not properly attached to the roof as the employer used 1 1/2 inch nails instead of the 3-inch nails required by the manufacturer. As a result, the guards were not sufficiently strong to keep an employee from sliding and falling off the roof; on or about 8/21/13. FEASIBLE ABATEMENT METHODS INCLUDE: 1- Read and follow all instructions, labels and warnings affixed to the equipment being used 2- Train the employees in the recognition of hazards associated with falls 3- Use the proper nails when attaching the roof brackets
