29 CFR 1910.1026(c): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of chromium (VI) which exceeded 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-hour time-weighted average. On or about May 2, 2013: Employees working in Corrosion Control De-paint Building 59D were exposed to respiratory hazards such as, but not limited to hexavalent chromium from performing sanding of composite areas of C-17 aircrafts. Employees were exposed to a Chromium (VI) 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) of: a. Employee (1) - 0.078 mg/m3 (milligrams per cubic meter) or 15.7 times the PEL of .005 mg/m3 for the employee performing 50/50 composite sanding under the left wing of the aircraft b. Employee (2) - 0.119 mg/m3 (milligrams per cubic meter) or 23.8 times the PEL of 0.005 mg/m3 for the employee performing 50/50 composite sanding under the right wing of the aircraft

29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(i): Where feasible engineering and work practice controls would reduce employee exposure to chromium (VI) to or below the permissible exposure limit, the employer did not apply these feasible controls to reduce employee exposures to the lowest chromium (VI) levels achievable: On or about May 2, 2013: Employees working in Corrosion Control De-paint Building 59D were exposed to hexavalent chromium from sanding of composite areas of C-17 aircrafts. The employer did not institute engineering and work practice controls to maintain or reduce exposure to hexavalent chromium at or below the permissible exposure limit (PEL). Employees were exposed to a Chromium (VI) 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) of: a. Employee (1) - 0.078 mg/m3 (milligrams per cubic meter) or 15.7 times the PEL of .005 mg/m3 for the employee performing 50/50 composite sanding under the left wing of the aircraft b. Employee (2) - 0.119 mg/m3 (milligrams per cubic meter) or 23.8 times the PEL of 0.005 mg/m3 for the employee performing 50/50 composite sanding under the right wing of the aircraft
