Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:    location: canopy  on or about: 9/4/13    a) An employee, installing hat channels on the top of the canopy, was not protected from falling 17'3" to the ground below.    Bamco, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315534560, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 6/7/11, with respect to a workplace located at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.    NOTE: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the inspection casefile, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of abatement for this violation as normally required by 29 CFR 1903.19.
