29 CFR 1910.107(b)(5)(i): The employer did not have visible guages, audible alarms, or pressure activated devices installed to indicate or ensure that he required air velocity was maintained on a spray booth:    a) Spray Paint Room #1 and #2: The employer failed to ensure that an air velocity meter, audible alarm or other means were available to warn personnel when there was a decrease in air velocity in the the spray rooms. Employees were exposed to the hazards of a fire and/or explosion while utilizing flammable materials such as, but not limited to, Sherwin Williams Chem 4000, Sherwin Williams Quick Dry that contained acetone, toluene, xylene, mineral spirits and other highly flammable materials while spray painting fabricated metal components used in the manufacture of HVAC roof curbs.

29 CFR 1910.107(d)(3): Independent exhaust. Each spray booth shall have an independent exhaust duct system discharging to the exterior of the building, except that multiple cabinet spray booths in which identical spray finishing material is used with a combined frontal area of not more than 18 square feet may have a common exhaust. If more than one fan serves one booth, all fans shall be so interconnected that one fan cannot operate without all fans being operated.     a) Spray Paint Room #1 and #2: The employer failed to ensure that an exhaust duct system was maintained on the spray rooms to facilitate the movement of flammable vapors and/or residue to the exterior of the building. Employees were exposed to the hazards of a fire and/or explosion while utilizing acetone, xylene, toluene and other highly flammable materials to spray paint fabricated metal components used in the manufacture of HVAC roof curbs.
