29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system.  Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width, each employee was not protected by use of a monitoring system. a) Roof, USPS Paupack Post Office, 480 S.R. 507, Paupack, PA: Employees working on the multiple level roof of the post office building were exposed to fall from height hazards. The employer did not ensure that a monitoring system or fall protection system were used by employees engaged in roofing activities who were exposed to falls that ranged from thirteen-foot (13') to seven-foot (7'), as observed on or about September 24, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(2)(i) and (ii), abatement certification is not required for this violation. Abatement was observed during the inspection.
