29 CFR 1910.23(a)(2): Ladderway floor opening(s) or platform(s) were not guarded by a standard railing with standard toeboard(s) on all exposed sides (except at the entrance to opening) with passage through the railing either provided with a swinging gate or so offset that a person could walk directly into the opening: On or about 10/15/2013 at 211 Lower Poplar Street Macon, GA 21201; employees were exposed to a fall hazard of up to 8 feet 6 inches to the lower level guardrails were missing at the platform: a. Maintenance shop ladder platform approximately 8 feet 6 inches from the lower level which is used by the employees to cover the valve with plastic to prevent it from leaking dust, did not have a guardrail installed. b. Elevator control room ladder platforms approximately 5 feet from the lower level which is used by the employees weekly to access the platform to maintain the equipment, did not have a guardrail installed.
