29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1): On every building or other structure, or part thereof, used for mercantile, business, industrial or storage purposes, the loads approved by the building official were not marked on plates of approved design and securely affixed in a conspicuous place in each space to which they relate.    (a) In the back room there were two raised overhead storage areas. The west storage area had the compressor on it. Employees were exposed to crushing hazards if the structures were to be overloaded and fail. The overhead storage areas were not posted with load ratings      (b) The east storage area had some heads, five gallon buckets, and boxes stored on it. Employees were exposed to crushing hazards if the structures were to be overloaded and fail. The overhead storage areas were not posted with load ratings.     Abatement certification is required for this item; use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.

29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1): Every flight of stairs having four or more risers was not be equipped with standard stair railings or standard handrails as specified in paragraphs (d)(1)(i) through (v) of this section, the width of the stair to be measured clear of all obstructions except handrails:  (a) Stairs leading up to the storage area in the back room did not have standard stair railings in that there was no midrail. Employees were exposed to a fall hazard greater than four feet.  Abatement certification is required for this item; use the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET for this purpose.

29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of an energy control procedure, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative:    (a) Where mechanical repair work is performed on hard wired equipment, no energy control procedure, training, periodic inspections, or specific procedures were developed or implemented. Equipment is not limited to, but includes two seat and guide machines, The Peterson with a floating table, bead blaster, valve facer, downdraft table, two jetwashers, glove spraywash cabinet, sonic cleaner, shot blaster, and metal lathe. Employees are exposed to potential unexpected release of energy and moving parts.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch:  (a) The Jet 8 inch Bench Grinder, SN 08112676, did not have a tongue guard to protect the operator from projectile pieces of stone if the stone were to break.    Abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. 29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.:  (a) In various locations throughout the production area, but not limited to the air gun found at the vacuum table, air guns were found to not be of the safety type and air pressure was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.. The air guns were used to dry the water off the heads and to remove debris after wire brusing ports. Employees were exposed to air injection hazards.  This violation was abated during inspection. Abatement certification for this violation is not required.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv): Flexible cords and/ or cables were used for purposes prohibited by paragraphs (A) through (F) of 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv):     (a) Pressure Testing Area; The SPX Robinair Vacumaster vacuum pump and a florescent light fixture were plugged into an orange extension cord equipped with three receptacles. The flexible orange extension cord was used instead of fixed wiring. Employees were exposed to electrical hazards.     Abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): Employers shall develop, implement, and maintain at each workplace, a written hazard communication program which at least describes how the criteria specified in paragraphs (f), (g), and (h) of this section for labels and other forms of warning, material safety data sheets, and employee information and training will be met, and which also includes the following:    (a) There is no written hazard communication program. Ultrasonic 7 contains potassium hydroxide, causes severe burns and is used in the ultrasonic cleaner. ZEP Formula 15282 is a recirculating spray-washer product used in the washers that contains sodium metasilicate, a corrosive.
