29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system. (a) The employer did not ensure that two employees in a trench greater than 5 feet deep for the purpose of installing 8" water main lateral, was protected from cave-ins with an adequate protective system. This exposed employees to a trench collapse hazard.
