29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(iii): This provision is applicable to construction employment by 1926.103. When the employer was unable to identify or reasonably estimate the employee exposure, the employer did not consider the atmosphere to be IDLH: (a) In the cooling/refrigeration area: On November 25, 2013, and at times prior thereto, employees were not adequately protected from airborne respiratory hazards, such as nuisance dust, and calcium silicate while engaged in cutting and installing insulation. The employer did not provide a reasonable estimate of employee exposure to airborne respiratory hazards which would sanction a voluntary respirator program for employees. Note Abatement certification IS required for this item.
