29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. a) Technical Molded Products, Inc. @ 3713 Canal Drive, Fort Collins, CO: On or before 11 December 2014, the employer did not ensure that the unused portion of the saw blade on the Ramco Band Saw in the maintenance shop was guarded. The saw is equipped with an adjustable guard but the guard was deficient because it does not adjust to the size of stock and also leaves an ungaurded portion of the blade above the stock. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards.
