29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: Worksite located at 3301 G Street, Omaha, NE; Processing Room: Employees involved in meat cutting utilizing 6-8 inch boning knives are not required to wear PPE appropriate to the task. The employees are provided with steel mesh gloves for the non-cutting hand but to protection for the forearm, chest, or stomach. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(iii): Employee training did not include the measures employees can take to protect themselves from chemical hazards, including specific procedures the employer had implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures and personal protective equipment to be used: Worksite located at 3301 G Street, Omaha, NE; throughout the company: The employer failed to provide training as prescribed in the paragraph above in that the employees had not been trained on the hazards of the chemicals that they commonly use including but not limited to Birko Corporation Bi-Clor-Rite cleaning solution Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
