29 CFR 1926.403(b)(1)   Examination. The employer shall ensure that electrical equipment is free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Safety of equipment shall be determined on the basis of the following considerations:     29 CFR 1926.403(b)(1)(ii): Mechanical strength and durability, including, for parts designed to enclose and protect other equipment, the adequacy of the protection thus provided.    a. At the worksite where employees were using temporary electrical power, an inspection of the electrical equipment to include panels, junction boxes, and receptacles was not performed, thereby exposing employees to electrical contact hazards.

29 CFR 1926.405(b)(1): Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings. Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings shall be protected from abrasion, and openings through which conductors enter shall be effectively closed. Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall also be effectively closed:    a. In the hallway of the second floor where employees were operating electrically operated hand tools, there was an unused opening in the temporary panel box, thereby exposing employees to a electrical contact hazard.    c. In the hallway outside the electrical room on the first floor where employees plugged in cords, there was an unused opening in the junction box attached to the temporary receptacle panel, thereby exposing employees to an electrical contact hazard.
