29 CFR 1910.272(j)(1): The employer did not develop and implement a written housekeeping program that established the frequency and the method(s) determined best to reduce accumulations of fugitive grain dust on ledges, floors, equipment, and other exposed surfaces: The employer is failing to protect employees from explosion hazards by not developing and implementing a written housekeeping program to reduce the amount of explosive fugitive grain dust in the facility. During the inspection, areas in the facility deemed to be "priority" cleaning areas by the definition in this subpart had accumulations of dust well the 1/8 inch allowed by the standard. Accumulations in some areas of the facility exceeded 6" in depth. This dust was found to be explosive after being tested by OSHA.
