29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.  a) Facility - on or about 12/16/13, on up to a daily basis, employee work with a variety of chemcials, including battery acid, lubricants, gasoline, hydraulic oils, etc.  The employer has not selected and require the employees to use the appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cut or lacerations; severe abrasion' punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.  Employees had only leather or cloth work gloves: no chemical resistant gloves were provided, required or used.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Facility - 2350 & 2340 Maryland Avenue - the reception area, office area, employee break room and storage rooms of the primary building (2350 Maryland Avenue) were not kept in a clean and orderly or in a sanitary condition: a variety of materials were staged on the floors and on and walking working surfaces.  Wires, tubing, tires, containers of fluids, and a variety of car and other parts and equipment impeded navigation through these areas, despite a narrow pathway.  The storage room/areas in both the primary building and the secondary building (2350 Maryland Avenue) had materials on the walking-working areas.   ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
