29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer failed to protect employees from potential amputation hazards associated with unguarded band saw blades. This was most recently evident during the inspection of the facility located at 3000 East 8th Street, Columbus, NE 68601, where the employer has maintenance employees operating the Wilton horizontal band saw, model E# 7020M, serial # 0809210 to cut bar stock and other metal material to be used in fabricating repair parts for equipment without having the unused portions of the band saw blade guarded.
