29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:    a)  Visual Products Corp at 2930 W. 9th Ave., Denver, CO 80204:  On or before January 29, 2014, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from rotating parts in the following instances:        1)  A Jet horizontal bandsaw, serial number WJ00311-OCP, used to cut steel and aluminum, was missing guards on both sides of the non-working parts of the blade, including 7 inches on one side and 4 inches on the other side; and            2)  A Delta vertical bandsaw was missing a guard over the upper non-working part of the blade measuring 2 inches.     Conditions exposed employees to amputation hazards.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.:    a)  Visual Products Corp at 2930 W. 9th Ave., Denver, CO 80204:  On or before January 29, 2014, the employer did not ensure that the air nozzles used to blow off sanding dust in the paint area included side discharge nozzles to reduce the compressed air to less than 30 psi.  Conditions exposed employees who sand and paint to soft tissue damage and embolisms.
