29 CFR 1926.102(b)(1): Selection of shade numbers for welding filter. Table E-2 were not used as a guide for the selection of the proper shade numbers of filter lenses or plates used in welding. Shades more dense than those listed may be used to suit the individual's needs. North side of the jobsite; the employer did not provide an employee with personal eye protection that contained filter lenses shade number 12-14 or darker to protect employees from radiant energy while welding angle iron, exposing the employee to contact hazards.
