29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  On or about February 13, 2014, at the roof edge along the front of the business located at 3353 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge, LA, an employee was observed leaning over the leading edge while changing the lettering on a billboard sign. This employee was not protected from a fall of 10 feet to the ground below. There was no railing system or personal fall arrest system utilized.
