OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards created due to exposed compressed air piping (of metal construction) that was not protected from potential damage by mobile laundry carts, which could lead to an explosion or quick release of compressed air. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is for the employer to provide an effective barrier around the piping to protect it from damage.     a) West wall of the Linen Room: Metal piping coming through the concrete floor to provide compressed air to a Label Presser Machine, was not protected from damage by the rolling laundry carts, personnel and other equipment.        ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED
