Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a- Quick Chek, Food Preparation Area - Protective gloves (zip gloves) were not immediately available for use when cleaning the meat slicer(s). Condition noted on or about 2/25/14.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1): Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment: a- Quick Chek, Wasington, NJ, Food Preparation Area - Sufficient access was not provided and maintained at the following locations: 1- Electrical panel box, rated 600 volts or less, was blocked by storage, (i.e., rolling cart and garbage can). 2- Door leading to the basement where electrical equipment is housed such as compressor was blocked by two large baker rolling racks. Condition noted on or about 2/25/14. Quick Chek was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 467541, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 7/26/12, with respect to a workplace located at 475 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
