29 CFR 1926.405(g)(2)(iii): Splices. Flexible cords shall be used only in continuous lengths without splice or tap. Hard service flexible cords No. 12 or larger may be repaired if spliced so that the splice retains the insulation, outer sheath properties, and usage characteristics of the cord being spliced. On or about February 25, 2014, at the temporary electrical panel located at the Suite 1300 Renovation jobsite at 5000 Hennessy Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70808, the employer allowed an employee to access an exposed live circuit. The cord was spliced and a live circuit was exposed.
