(a) Northwest corner of Mechanic's Shop - On or about February 26, 2014, employees using the wooden stairs to access the overhead storage area were exposed to falls due to the absence of a midrail on the stair railing.

29 CFR 1910.24(f): Rise height and tread width were not uniform throughout any flight of stairs including any foundation structure used as one or more treads of the stairs:    (a) Northwest corner of Mechanic's Shop - On or about February 26, 2014, employees using the wooden stairs to access the overhead storage area were exposed to falls due to the the sixth stair tread from the bottom having been damaged/split so that the nose of the tread dipped down across most of its 40 1/4 inch width.

29 CFR 1910.243(a)(1)(i): Portable power driven circular saw(s) having a blade diameter greater than two inches were not equipped with guard(s) below the base plate or shoe which automatically and instantly returned to the covering position when the tool was withdrawn from the work:    (a)  Inside Shop building, on South Work Bench - on or about February 25, 2014, employees cutting hydraulic hoses to length with the Hitachi Chop Saw, CC14SF, with a 12 inch diameter blade, were exposed to injury due to the fact that the saw's lower blade guard was missing its return spring, and did not automatically return to cover the lower portion of the blade.

29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1): In every building or other structure, or part thereof, used for mercantile, business, industrial or storage purposes, the loads approved by the building official were not marked on plates of approved design and securely affixed in a conspicuous place in each space to which they relate.  (a) Northwest corner of Mechanic's Shop - On or about February 26, 2014 employees were exposed to not knowing the load bearing capability of the 16 foot by 16 foot storage area over the shop office and parts storage room because no floor load rating had been calculated and displayed.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(5): The employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace was labeled, tagged, or marked with the identity and appropriate hazard warnings regarding the chemicals contained therein:  (a) Kermit Broome and Sons Wood Chipping, Inc., 113 W Black Creek Road, Sumrall, MS 39482, Office - Shop Yard - On or about February 26, 2014, employees fueling equipment or trucks were exposed to the following fuel tanks which lacked labels for either or both: the identity of the contents and the appropriate hazard warning: (1) the 6000 gallon Road Diesel Fuel tank was missing both labels, (2) the 4000 gallon Dyed Diesel tank was missing the appropriate hazard warning, (3) the 1500 gallon gasoline tank was missing both labels, (4) the 250 gallon Herring Gas Company LPG tank was missing both labels, and (5) the old 1974 250 gallon LPG tank located near the wash area was missing both labels.
