On or about 3/3/2014, in the "saw cutting area" on the east side of the facility, the employer allowed employees to operate a band saw to cut steel stock without a guard for the exposed but unused portion of the blade.  2.) On or about 3/3/2014, in the lathe area of the west machine shop, the employer allowed employees to operate a lathe without a chuck guard in order to smooth a test piece in preparation for hardness testing.  The Global Manufacturers of Acadiana was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314771627, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 8/11/2011, with respect to a workplace located at 106 Row 1 - Canebrake, Lafayette, LA 70501.  Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d), within 10 days, the employer must submit an abatement plan describing the actions it is taking to ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding are provided for all applicable machines.
