29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): The employer did not select and have each affected employee use, the types of personal protective equipment (PPE) that would protect the affected employee(s) from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment: 1. Pretzel Candy Pot Dipping Area - Employees working around the candy pot containing a caustic solution of baker's lye (aka sodium hydroxide) heated up to 185 °F, were not using appropriate protection to prevent hot chemical burns to their arms and legs. On or about March 12, 2014. 2. Pretzel Rolling Machine Area (American Conveyor Systems Pretzel Rolling Machine) - Employees having long hair working around a pretzel rolling machine were exposed to a caught-by hazard posed by the unguarded rotating shafts of the roll board conveyor system. Observed on or about March 12, 2014. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit abatement certification, required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by rotating parts: 1) Pretzel Rolling Machine Area (American Conveyor Systems Pretzel Rolling Machine) - The employer did not completely guard the rotating shafts of the roll board conveyor system in order to prevent employees from getting caught by these parts. On or about March 9, 2014. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit abatement certification and documentation, required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
