29 CFR 1926.651(k)(2): Where the competent person finds evidence of a situation that could result in a possible cave-in, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions, exposed employees shall be removed from the hazardous area until the necessary precautions have been taken to ensure their safety. (a) Between the Parking Lot and Street - An employee was allowed to work in a 7' by 7 1/2' excavation where the ground had been saturated by a water leak and one side was 5'1" deep, thereby exposing the employee to a serious hazard, observed on or about 3-10-14. Abatement certification required
