29 CFR 1926.405(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords were not used in continuous lengths without splice or tap: The employer does not ensure that all flexible cords are used in continuous lengths without splice or tap. This violation occurred on or about March 19, 2014, at the construction site, where employees were using a hand drill powered by a extension cord without ensuring the cord was being used without a splice. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all flexible cords are used only in continuous lengths.

29 CFR 1926.405(g)(2)(iv): Flexible cords were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief is provided to prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws: The employer does not ensure that all flexible cords are connected to fittings so that tension would not be transmitted to joints or terminal screws. This violation occurred on or about March 19, 2014, at the construction site, where employees were using a hand drill powered by an extension cord without strain relief between the cord and the female plug end on the cord. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that strain relief is provided on all flexible cords and cables.
